ArtsyFartsy - part 7

I have enough of these from the Seoul trip alone to last several months. Eventually the technology post will be done, but in the meantime....

As you can tell, I was having trouble deciding whether I liked the color or black and white photos better.
Old Palace Wall.

An entrance to another time?

Or the entrance to a better time?

The King's residence.

You can imagine seeing ghosts of ancient Korean Kings and Queens walking down this outer hallway.

Feel free to use my photos anywhere you want to. Just please link back to my site if it's on the web, and let me know... I'd love to know you liked my photos enough to use them somewhere!

ArtsyFartsy - part 6

I've been working on a post about Korean Technology and it's taking me forever, mainly due to my frustration at the GPS not cooperating. (Dangit, GPS, you are ruining my argument about how cool Korean technology is!!)

So in the meantime here's some Artsy Fartsy!

I'm really enjoying the Black and White photos this time.
Park in Seoul.

Entrance to one of the palaces in Seoul. (Sorry I'm tired tonight, so I'm not going to figure out which one, maybe later I'll edit and add in the actual location.

Palace and Sky.

Royal residence.

Palace building.

It was a very hazy morning in Seoul. Not a hint of blue sky, but nice and hot. :)

ArtsyFartsy - part 5

Or... Kim is feeling lazy, part 5!

Thanks to the new editing software I was able to edit out the cars, or rather make them blurry so they're less obvious.... of course now that I've pointed them out, I'm sure you can see them. In fact, you probably can't stop looking at them now.... damn my big mouth!

Sky Mountain Temple.... HaeSanSa? Haha, no I made that up.

I think this would make a sweet desktop background... anyone think I can make money selling this to Microsoft?

Sky and Temple.

Ok, I couldn't decide which one I liked best.

Temple (Beomeosa to be exact) backed up against the mountain.

More Temple and Sky... I'm on a roll!

From the top of the tallest mountain around... see the fortress snaking through the hills?

More awesome mountain shots.

The golden pool.

Medieval forest? No, just Korean hiking trail.

ArtsyFartsy - part 4

It's been a slow past couple of days, not boring, just blog post boring. Maybe things are starting to feel normal here... crazy talk. Here's a reminder of all the beautiful stuff, aka, not normal.

At Yunggungsa (Yunggung temple), aka the Dragon Temple or the Temple on the Sea.

Steps going up to the Buddha of Mercy.

Yunggungsa is the only temple on the sea. And from my experiences of temples (thus far), the most beautiful.

Buddha of Mercy at Buddha's birthday celebration.

Why Yunggungsa is sometimes called the Dragon Temple.

Yunggungsa

Yunggungsa in black and white. Definitely more dramatic, but I think I like color better.

Yungungsa.

Reconstructed command tower at Geumjeongsanseong Fortress.

In an update for the tutoring I'm doing... the kiddos are feeling a lot more comfortable. How do I know? They weren't nearly as quiet this time around. lol. Also, I'm surprised at how much communication we get done with   no common language. At least I know the words for: Say, here, this, write, and bathroom (in Korean). Those are life savers. :D

Tomorrow is Korean lessons, so I better get on doing that homework. Till next time!

ArtsyFartsy - part 3

Hold onto your britches there are many more to come after this. :D I have enough edited photos for 5 parts right now and I just keep taking photos! I have so much fun editing them. It's going to be a problem to decide which ones to have printed, mounted and framed when we get home...

At Beomeosa.

Rockfall hiking behind Beomeosa.

Beomeosa with cherry blossoms!

At the thousand year old city.

ArtsyFartsy - part 2

I finished editing a lot of pictures yesterday and split them in to reasonable groups. Turns out I have 3 more posts worth after this one! Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to use Gimp very well yet, so these are still just edited using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. I'm sure when I figure Gimp out my pictures will blow your mind! Until then, you'll have to settle for simple awe. :D

I love color saturating the pictures with the temple buildings because of all their beautiful painting!

Jangan Temple during Buddha Birthday. Shannon's favorite out of these pictures.

Jangan Temple 2.

Looking up through the Bamboo Forest.

Well manicured forest path behind Jangansa.

It's definitely a toss up between the one above and the one below for which is my favorite picture in this post.

Cherry Blossoms against the mountain.

Beomeosa waterfall from the top.

I loooove the bright and pretty lanterns!

I'll probably blog about something else tomorrow (I have a list of topics I haven't gotten to yet), but don't worry, in the near future there will be a part 3, part 4 and part 5... and I'm sure many more parts in the future!
